9. TN
TN is a deeply mysterious man. No one in the city knows his past or even his true identity. He arrived in Staoslam city about twenty years ago, where he built a business that made him rich. The tavern of the lost pages today is just a façade, and the man is involved in numerous affairs that are rarely very clear-cut. Countless merchants and ships work for him, directly or indirectly. He owns warehouses in the largest cities of Takkanor.
TN maintains a loyal personal guard for security—and that is precisely what Throlkad desires: a place within the ranks.
During this first meeting, the former pirate discovers a man of large stature, indeterminate age, and incredibly fair skin. He speaks with a soft, low voice—almost enchanting. TN is known for his many conquests: his charisma is undeniable, and even Throlkad struggles not to be unsettled by his conversation partner.
TN doesn't let him finish making his case; he interrupts him:
TN: "I know who you are. I know your history, and I was expecting you to come. Your collaboration might interest me. Come back here in seven days."
Backstage
I conceived this track so that it would reflect TN's complex personality and ambiguity, a character newly introduced into the musical adventures. This is what explains its structure, which shifts dramatically between two vastly different atmospheres from beginning to end. One of the main themes is derived from one of my very old compositions, based on a song that never saw the light of day. It is the theme that begins at the 36-second mark and develops with its chord progression starting around the 2:10 mark.
The very specific sound of the track's main sequence was created using the excellent Oberheim OB-1 plugin by GForce Software.
